From June 15 to 21, 2025, the Second Kazakhstan Geological Universiade “Satbayev” took place.
The event was dedicated to honoring Kanysh Imantaevich Satbayev, the founder of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan and its first president, academician.

The Universiade was held at the “Polytechnic” sports and recreation camp of A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University (KarTU) in Karkaralinsk.

The event was organized with the support of the Committee of Geology of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Satbayev University, and A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University.

The main goal of the Universiade is to support and develop young specialists in the field of geology, as well as to create conditions for realizing their professional potential and career growth.

The Universiade brought together undergraduate students specializing in “Geology and Exploration of Mineral Deposits” and “Applied Geology” from the leading universities of Kazakhstan, including:
Satbayev University (Almaty), A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University, Nazarbayev University (Astana), KBTU, Caspian Public University, Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, and KGP on REM “Geological Exploration College” (Semey).

Over the course of five days, participants competed in various geological disciplines, including mineralogy and petrography, core description, geological field mapping, hydrogeology, paleontology, and geophysics, to determine the strongest teams.

Based on the overall results, the team of the Geological Exploration College won first place, successfully confirming last year’s achievement.
